The South Eastern Circuit EDI Committee is pleased to invite members to a special International Women’s Day event.

Emma Price of 5 Essex Chambers and Emma Louise Fenelon of 1 Crown Office Row are the authors of the forthcoming book Baby at the Bar: Navigating life as a barrister after becoming a parent. Drawing on the experience of over 250 barristers from across the profession, the book offers a candid account of the challenges faced at the self employed Bar when parenting responsibilities meet the demands of practice, and it highlights practical strategies and routes to improvement.

In conversation with Rebecca Tuck KC of Cloisters, Emma and Emma Louise will explore the key themes arising from the book, the solutions suggested by contributors, and what chambers and the wider profession can do to better support barristers with caring responsibilities. The discussion will also touch on the Circuit’s work in improving practical support, including breastfeeding facilities in court.

This session is open to both SEC members and non members. The event will be recorded and, subject to final permissions, made available on the SEC website in due course.
