Florida Criminal Law Advocacy Course – Junior Barristers (2026)
CALLING ALL JUNIOR CRIMINAL BARRISTERS: THREE TO SEVEN YEARS’ CALL
The South Eastern Circuit seeks four Juniors with a criminal practice to attend this prestigious annual advocacy course. Now in its fourth decade, the programme offers a unique opportunity to act as an ambassador for the British Bar while engaging in a fascinating teaching exchange with the Florida Bar.
Location: University of Florida Levin College of Law, Gainesville, Florida, USA.
Dates: Sunday 26th July – Friday 31st July 2026.
Eligibility: The course is primarily open to junior practitioners between three and seven years’ Call. However, the Circuit will consider applications from those over seven years’ Call in exceptional circumstances.
Requirements: Applicants must be paid-up members of the South Eastern Circuit; however, you may apply for membership concurrently with your course application.
The Role: Successful candidates are expected to participate in advocacy exercises, provide constructive feedback to other participants, and co-host a drinks reception with the attending Silk.
Funding: Course fees and accommodation are provided. Candidates are responsible for arranging and funding their own travel to Gainesville.
CPD: The course is expected to attract approximately 25 hours of CPD.
